Raise money, catch carp, and help children at the same time!

Fishathon, or FAT as its lovingly known now, started back in 2005 after a chance conversation and we have since grown into a well supported bi-annual event that raises much needed funds for very worthy causes.

To date, we have raised in the region of £30,000 for causes and Charities such as a Special Care Baby Unit, a childrens ward at my local hospital, riding for the disabled, Help for Heroes and a very special Charity in Scottys Little Soldiers.

We normally change Charities for each Fishathon, but after the success of FAT4 we have made the decision to support Scottys every time now.

This is a fantastic Charity that aims to help the Children of the Fallen and this next extract is taken directly from the SLS website….

“Inspired by the experience of army widow, Nichola Scott, the charity honours husband Corporal Lee ‘Scotty’ Scott’s memory – both as a loyal soldier and a loving father – and provides a practical yet personal way for the public at large to show their appreciation for those brave individuals who make the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country.”

“Funds for the charity are raised through events, donations, merchandising and corporate sponsorships. Children will receive letters, cards, gifts, tickets for events and even fees for local sports or activities. In the long term, we’re aiming to buy a holiday home, so that families can take short breaks and enjoy building new, happy memories.”

As a matter of keeping up to date, SLS have now purchased 2 brand new holiday homes and are well on their way to securing the third.
